Prof. Harold G. Koenig

Prof. Dr. med. Harold G. Koenig
Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC/USA

Dr. Koenig will speak about the latest research findings on religion and health from around the world. He will also talk about some of the key research studies conducted in the past, and demonstrate how results from these studies and from newer ones are relevant for present life. He will examine the role of religion in coping with stress, and how beliefs and practices can help us to deal with suffering and trauma. Finally, he will tell us about how physicians in the U.S. are responding to this research, and to what extent they are integrating it's results into patient care. Furthermore, changes in medical education that have occurred in the past 10-15 years as a result of this research will be covered.
Following the public lecture there will be an interdisciplinary podiums discussion with local exponents of different public and scientific fields. The public lecture and the podiums discussion are translated simultaneously into german.
