Travel
Getting to the Conference Venue
By plane
Basel's only Airport is the EuroAirport. As the name suggests it is ment for travelers within Europe. Transcontinental flights are not being received at the moment.
Anyone traveling transcontinental by plane is advised to check Zurich Airport or Geneva Airport as their destinations. Please consider that you would need considerable transfer time from and to those airports: Zurich - Basel at least 1.5 hours, Geneva - Basel at least 3 hours by train.
By train
Basel has two bigger train stations. Basel SBB is the train station that is directed towards Switzerland and France, Basel Badischer Bahnhof is the train station for long and short distance trains towards and from Germany.
By car
Basel has a motorway running directly through the city. Coming from Germany it is the Autobahn 5 / E35, coming from France it is the Autoroute A35 / E25. The Swiss Motorways 2 and 3 run together short before Basel coming from the south and east of Switzerland. Please consider that parking is subject to a fee in Switzerland. There are no parkings free of charge within the city.
Within the City
Please consider using the public transport offered by the city. The Swiss public transportation is very well developed and maintained. You can rely on the buses and trams most of the time. Of course you can have a look a the shared bikes and scooters if you like to travel by yourself around the area.
Accomodation
General Note:
Basel City lies at the boarder with Germany and France. The public transport allows to go at least to the boarder and sometimes to cross it directly. We recommend to book a hotel in Basel, but nothing speaks against a hotel in Germany or France, as long as your travel documents allow such an option. Please consider the travel time to and from the conference venue when booking a hotel in France and Germany. Boarder controlls are unusual but can happen. We can only raise awareness of this issue.

Hotels in Germany
We do not recommend any hotels by name, as we did not looked for an agreement with any hotel in Germany. Nevertheless, there is a corner at the boarder between Switzerland and Germany where it seems reasonable to look for a hotel room. The place is called "Dreiländereck". See this link to google maps for more information. The advantage of a hotel room there is the direct public tranfer via the tram line number 8 close to the conference venue.
Hotels in France
As for the hotels in Germany, we do not recommend any hotel by name. You can have a look for hotels in the nearby cities of Saint-Louis and Huningue. Please note that crossing the boarder to France would bring you into the french speaking area around Basel.
Parking
The closest car parking to the conference venue is the City Parking. Please check the information on their website for fees and availability.
Venue
The conference meetings and presentations will take place at the Basel University Hospital (Universitätsspital Basel, short: USB). The building of the Center for Research and Teaching (Zentrum für Lehre und Forschung, short: ZLF) is the main site for keynotes, poster presentations and symposia/short communications.
